On December 13, the scouts and scouters who hike the Palisades Historical Trail returned to tour the Visitors Center of the Fort Lee Historical Park This is a requirement for the Trail patch, and was skipped on the day of the hike in an ultimately unsuccessful attempt to avoid the forecasted cold rain.
Everyone who did the hike plus some others got a glorious day to explore the grounds of this Revolutionary War landmark. The Visitors Cente had lots of great information and displays on the history of the Fort and the war in this area of the country. Amongst the many exhibits were period uniforms and weaponry. Surprisingly, there did not appear to be a diorama of the Fort and its batteries overlooking the Hudson,
After Fort Lee, we took a run up to Northern New Jersey Council's Camp Alpine to see what it was like without oncoming darkness and hard rain.
Scouts who did the hike, and return to tour the visitors Center will earn the Palisades Historical Trail patch.
