Welcome to home page of Troop 6. We are a vibrant multi-cultural, multi-racial, non-denominational urban unit reflecting the diversity of the Queen City of the Sound - New Rochelle, NY. The troop operates because of the long term kindness and generosity of our Charter partner, the Presbyterian Church of New Rochelle and the Korean Presbyterian Church of Westchester.

Scouting is the largest youth organization in the US, and the World Organization of Scout Movement is the largest youth organization in the world, representing 28 million scouts in 160 countries. Scouting is the greatest outdoors action game around, and our Troop does it well. Our program for the 2011-12 program year includes canoeing on the Delaware, skiing and snowboarding in the Berkshires of Massachusetts, winter camping, trail hiking, swims, climbing, ecology, and a host of other real life, not just electronic, adventures. We also run a Venture Patrol program for older, more experienced scouts which will include backpacking trips on the AT in northern Connecticut and in the Gunks, with a special week-long wilderness trek in the summer. Of course, we don't forget about giving back to the community - the troop conducts several service projects throughout the year. All this is capped off by a week long, personally challenging and fun filled summer camp at the Curtis Read Scout Reservation in the Adirondack Forest Preserve that will include caving, climbing and rappelling, whitewater rafting and horseback trail rides. It's a program that's packed with fun while scouts perfect the skills necessary to plan and execute an outdoor program that is youth run. Scouts learn self-reliance and leadership, gaining greater levels of confidence and self-esteem as they progress through the program. Most of all, they have FUN. Check out our Troop Calendar to see all of the adventures awaiting our scouts!

We hope you'll take some time to explore this site and find out more about both Troop 6 and the Boy Scout program in general. Check out the site's features including the photo gallery or check out the the latest Troop happenings.

If you're a boy at least 11 years of age or that has completed the 5th grade, and this type of fun appeals to you, feel free to drop in with a parent or guardian to one of our Thursday night meetings.
